What to Pack on your South African Hunting Safari.

During the main hunting season from April to October, the days are generally warm to hot and evenings cool to cold. Military camouflage clothing is to be avoided although tree-bark togs are acceptable. Rain gear in not really necessary and laundry is done on a daily basis - therefore avoid overloading your baggage.

Recommended Items to Bring on Safari
• 40 to 60 rounds of ammunition per rifle
• Gun cleaning kit (most outfitters do have workshops)
• Light weight clothing in neutral colors
• A warm jacket
• Thick soled well worn-in boots (ankle length)
• A towel
• Wide brimmed hat
• Swimming trunks
• Shaving equipment and toiletries
• Insect repellant
• Sun block or sun screen
• A small pocket knife
• International power point adapters (most outfitter do have these)

Please Note: Electrical appliances should be set at 220 volts AC.

In malaria areas it is advisable not to wear aftershave or perfume as this attracts mosquitoes.

Optional Extras
• Mobile Phones (Analogue or Digital system) - arrangements with your service providers will have to be made prior to departure to ensure use of you phone while in SA
• A practical camera and film
• Video camera, batteries or charger & spare tapes
• Light weight binoculars
• Small flashlight/torch & batteries
• Field guide on birds and mammals of SA

For the businessman
• Check with your outfitter what facilities they have available.
E.g. computers, e-mail , internet, facsimile etc.
• Feel free to bring along your own laptop.
• Many outfitters are technologically advanced and can offer administrative services.

	Sunscreen	This is Africa-max SPF. Very important to bring along for all skin types! Don't underestimate the sun in Africa.
	Insect repellant	For a peaceful sleep without mosquitoes.
	Bush Hat	A little shade from the African sun.

	Light Jacket	For early mornings.
	Trousers	3 Pairs. Essential for early mornings and evenings.
	Shirts Long sleeve	3 Pairs. Essential for early morning and evenings.
	Shirts Short sleeve	3 Pairs. Essential for the hot afternoons.
	Shorts	3 Pairs. Essential for the hot afternoons.
	Underwear	Sufficient for duration of stay.
	Socks	Comfortable and preferably long to prevent the grass and branches to scratch your legs.
	Hunting Boots	Worn in – not new. You will do a lot of walking.
	Light Shoes	For use in hunting camp. Comfortable and light.
	Video & camera equipment We also have Camera Crews available to film your hunt.	Enough batteries & film to capture your dream.
	Binoculars	Good pair essential for spotting your trophy.
	First Aid Kit	As per personal requirements.
	Medication	Docters prescription to accompany.
	Toiletries	As per personal requirements.
